Cryo chamber experiences – what do –110°C feel like?

Before the first cryo chamber session most people feel respect: –110°C sounds like frostbite, pain, an experience at the limit. In practice the session is short, intense and – according to most BUZZ guests – surprisingly easy to endure. Here you learn how the body feels during and after the 2–3 minutes, what typical reactions are and why many come back after the first session.

Cryo chamber experiences – what do –110°C feel like?

Come in, step in, breathe – the first seconds

You come in underwear or swimwear – house shoes, socks, hat, gloves and a face mask are provided at BUZZ. You step into the pre-chamber, then into the main room. The cold doesn't hit you like an icy gush, but like a very dry, sharp wind. Most are surprised: it's cold, clearly, but no burning pain. Breathing stays possible, you move gently. The first 30 seconds feel like a very cold winter morning.

After about a minute you feel the skin cool and the circulation adjust, but the inner warmth stays. Many report a strange alertness, almost like an inner alarm, yet not unpleasant.

Minute two and three – and the mind

The second minute is the decisive one. The body is now fully in the cold stimulus, skin temperature drops, the brain signals: very cold. What many don't expect: it's not about enduring suffering, but a very clear, almost meditative presence. You're fully in the moment. Those who breathe through notice time pass faster than expected.

The third minute – most sessions end here – is about concentration. You see the clock, stay calm, stay focused because you know: it's almost over.

After the session: what happens next

Out of the chamber, the body immediately starts warming up. Most feel a tingling in hands and feet and a slight reddening of the skin. 10–20 minutes later many feel a clear, awake sensation. Effects and tolerability are individual.

That's why many BUZZ guests use the cold after training.
