Many older cryo chambers use liquid nitrogen to reach –110°C. At BUZZ Vienna we deliberately chose an electrically cooled chamber – with no nitrogen at all. Why that's a real safety advantage and where the differences lie, you read here.

Liquid nitrogen reaches temperatures of about –196°C. When vaporized it produces cold gas that cools the chamber down. The problem: nitrogen displaces oxygen. If the vaporizer isn't controlled exactly, the oxygen level in the room can drop. For healthy, alert people that's usually minor – but with wrong operation or near the vaporizer openings oxygen deficiency can become unpleasant up to risky.
Added to that: a nitrogen-run chamber is harder to keep at a constant temperature – fluctuations are bigger, control less precise.
An electrically cooled cryo chamber works with compressors – like an extremely powerful fridge, just much colder. The air stays air, no gas is added that displaces oxygen. You breathe fully normal air the whole session. That's the central safety advantage.
Added to that, precision: temperature is regulated exactly, from pre-chamber –60°C to main chamber –110°C. You can step in optimally from your level.
Safety and sustainability aren't marketing terms but decision criteria. An electrically cooled chamber needs no nitrogen deliveries, no permanent tank filling, and has a clear, controlled air atmosphere. Maintenance is transparent, control digital, staff accompaniment throughout.
Those entering a cryo chamber for the first time can fully concentrate – on the stimulus, the effect and themselves. No waft of fumes, no strange smell, no worries.
